My First Great Dane Meetup

Meesh_Caleb_Aiden_AsiaThis blog post was written in “first dog” by Meshach the Great Dane puppy:

I went to my first Great Dane Meetup on October 8, 2011. I was a little scared at first bepaws the two Great Danes that were there before me were BIG dogs, woof! Okay I know that we Great Danes are BIG dogs, but I was only 4 months old and the fawn was an 8 year old male and the black was a 16 month old male named Maximus. He’s the one in the photo with me. And they wanted to sniff me all up, of course bepaws that’s what we dogs do.

Anyway Mom tells everyone I had perfect puppy etiquette, whatever that means. I just know that I knew to put my ears back, roll on my back and kiss their faces.

Every new dog into the group got the same treatment so in no time I was greeting all newcomers and hanging with the big dogs, woof! I had a LOT of fun, too! I didn’t want to leave – we were almost the last ones to leave in fact. I got to running the Great Dane 500 with the big dogs except I ran at the back of the pack so as to not get run over. I was the youngest dog there and the only brindle so I sort of stood out from the pack.

There were a couple of human children there too who kept wanting to play with me so I got LOTS of attention. As you’ll see in this short video clip, I just left Mom hanging by the fence with our friend Barb, and went and did my thing coming back once in a while to make sure she was still there. All of us dogs did that. We would jog by the humans standing by the fence high pawing all of them bepaws we KNEW we were the center of attention, woof!

I get to go back again in November but this time I will be bigger and five months old. Maybe there will be a puppy my age for me to play with – that would be pawsome.

Some of the benefits of these play groups are:
1. We get to be with other dogs
2. It’s important for us to remain social and have social interactions with other canines so we remember how we are supposed to interact with each other.
3. We get fresh air and often in NM, SUNSHINE! Those are 2 of the 8 laws of health.
4. Our humans get to get out and do a bonding thing with us and with other humans who love their dogs.

I’ll be back soon with more adventures, AND sharing more of my naturally reared friends and family!

Have a pawsitively tail waggin’, NATUROPATHICALLY healthy day, woof!

  1. Looks like they all had fun! Meshach’s brother Woody is going to his first Great Dane meet up on Saturday. I know he will really enjoy meeting other Danes, and we will enjoy meeting other Dane lovers.
