Animal Talk Naturally Podcast

About the Show

Animal Talk Naturally: Empowering YOU with UNlearning to care for YOUR animals, NATURALLY here on the Animal Talk Naturally show! Celebrating the art of natural animal care, the truth of animal nature, and the love of the human-animal bond.

Our show airs live on BlogTalk Radio at Immediately following the live show, the recorded podcast version is available at the live site.

The show is talk show sharing commentary, news, and events about animal naturopathy philosophy, natural animal health, animal nature and the human-animal bond. The primary focus of the show is now on the philosophy of animal naturopathy, adhering to the laws of health in nature. The hosts, animal naturopaths, Kim Bloomer & Jeannie Thomason, share their insights into all things related to true natural animal health and wellness.

To consider having your event or news announced on the show here is our criteria:

1. We are of a Christian, Bible-based faith. While we respect that most of our listeners or guests may not be not of the same faith, we however want to honor the God of our faith with our work for the animals. This means certain topics (such as animal communication, reincarnation, spirit guides, devas, psychics, metaphysical, mediums, spiritism, etc.) will not be discussed on the show.

2. IF your rescue group or sanctuary is caring for the animals entirely holistically/naturally and we feel your organization would be a good model of that to share with our audience we may consider announcing your event or news. However, if you focus on any of the “do nots” in #1, conventional animal health care, and/or animal rights/shelter agendas then we will decline your request. A show we can refer you to in that case is My Buddy Butch with host Jeff Marginean. We focus on education of the holistic, natural rearing of animals, animal ecology, behavior/cognition, etc., and the human-animal bond as relates to these aforementioned topics.

3. We do not do product specific shows. If you have a wonderful new natural pet health product you would like to have advertised on the show please contact us to discuss partnering to meet the needs of our listening audience (we do not accept advertising of any type of commercial pet food and NO pharmaceuticals of any kind).

Thank you for contacting us.

We hope you all have a tail waggin’, hoof stompin’, wing-flappin’, purrrfectly animal talkin’ day!
Dr. Kim & Dr. Jeannie

PAWs Applause

This page contains comments and applause from our guests and our listening audience (always unsolicited on our part which makes these even better for us) – we appreciate each and every one of you, and we know the animals are grateful you care so much to give them the best lives they deserve! It is all of you who keep us coming back each week to help you be empowered to care for your animals naturally! – Kim Bloomer & Jeannie Thomason, hosts of Animal Talk Naturally!

Thanks for all of the effort you put in to the podcasts. I learn something new with every one. It confirms what I have suspected and believed for 30 years but was persuaded to think otherwise by fear tactics. That meant I went in and out of following my truth. From now on I will follow what I believe is the truth and my animals will be better for it. ~Diane Brooks

Hi Dr Kim and Dr Jeannie, I just wanted to thank you for all your fantastic work. I’m in the UK, and I’ve been listening to you since 2005. Your podcasts were introduced to me when you featured the the late great Johan Joubert. Johan was the first Vet I met who fed raw, and really inspired me. I really enjoy the podcasts and they have helped me with my 3 dogs and two cats but also in my work (I’m a Canine behaviourist), and for my own health. I’ve raw fed for 8 years and I don’t vaccinate. Plus I’m a CHC member. Keep up the great work. ~Kim Lummis

I’m listening to your podcast from yesterday (Carnivore Organ Systems, Part 1). Laughing at the part when you mentioned they cut the head off the charts in anatomy class. It’s a visual of how they aren’t using their heads and don’t want you to use yours either. ~Barbara Howard

Hi Dr. Kim! I was honoured to be part of your show! I even shared it with my mom and she was very impressed :-). I am currently starting to work with my animal homeopath on a site to advocate for pets regarding all natural health issues. I am excited by this project as animals have become my passion since I got my dogs 4 years ago and I want to continue to get the word out there…there is just so much that most people don’t know, even people who are in the industry. Also, I just wanted to send you my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear friend Shadrach…I hope you and your husband are healing and helping each other. Thanks again for all that you and Dr. Jeannie do, Keep up the good work, ~Sarah Ruediger – Sarah is a member of our Natural Health Care for Dog Group and her comments were so encouraging to us that we shared them on a show back in February.

Angela wrote this to us in response to our show Butterfly Adversity – Show #355: I just finished reading the Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews and wow was it powerful… Through each page, all I could think about was the work you both are doing in animal naturopathy and the ripple effect you are creating. It started with the two of you being selfless, wanting a better way for our dogs. Now it has rippled out to touch and change each of us. Think of all the dogs you two have helped either directly or indirectly. You may never know how many people have made changes and improved the quality of life for their dogs by hearing. Not only have you helped us rear our dogs naturally but you have helped us to make major changes in our lives because of what we have learned or actually “UNlearned“. I do not think I can ever express how deeply thankful I am for you both. ~Angela Rector and the Aussie flock (animal naturopath student and regular listener to ATN,.

October 12, 2010
I just wanted to say thank you again. Have just had an exchange with someone about Rimadyl (on FB). They think it’s safe because the vet said so. I linked to several articles which listed the dangers. The blind are that way because they are unwilling to see. I am getting an idea of how frustrating it is for you to try to teach people and find they are willfully ignorant. It almost makes me want to just keep what I know to myself. I ended my “conversation” and unfriended because I just don’t want to see that crap any more. I just don’t. I’m so grateful you don’t just give up and keep all of your knowledge to yourself. Every so often, someone like me comes along who really does listen. What I have learned from you has saved Joey’s life. I’m completely convinced of this. Just wanted you to know I’m grateful. ~Lynne Parker

Thank you both sooooooooooo much! Every little bit I help the raw feeding folks in our breed it feels like more and more are opening up and asking questions, getting that much closer to NR. It’s awesome! And it’s all because of your help and efforts, through those taught by you. The far reaching effects you two Ladies have on any given day are much more than you’ll ever realize. Just remember that! Hugs to you both! ~Krystal Beers, Highland Glenn English Shepherds

Hi Dr. Kim! Since finding your and Dr. Jeannie’s podcast, I have become obsessed with learning as much as possible. I find natural health care for dogs amazing! I have stopped giving my pooches those nasty flea/tick & worm meds and have started the RMB diet over two weeks ago. In fact I posted before and after pics of Razzi showing her skin issues (bald spots) before RMB and two weeks after RMB diet and you & Dr. Jeannie briefly mentioned it on your show last week :-} Amazing results – no more bald spots. Lobo continues to do great! And I am especially dedicated in memory of Mischief. We spent thousands of dollars on his health and knowing what I know now – we made his life worse… I WILL NOT make this mistake again. I talk to everyone about the RMB diet and everything I am learning about natural care. Thanks so much as you and Dr. Jeannie have been such an INSPIRATION to me and so many others!!! ~Kathy, Lobo & Razzi

I’ve been listening to past podcasts and have learned so much. I wish, I WISH, I had found all of this info years ago… also thank you for the info on the vaccines. Like so many I hear on your podcasts, I thought I was doing everything right when, in fact, I was doing everything wrong. From now on I’m going to be a voracious reader, tenacious student, and fearless mom for my dogs. People like you are such a gift…you are the only venue for truth. Hi Dr. Kim, I just finished listening to your interview with Dr. Jill Elliot and it was wonderful and refreshing…I also had to laugh as Gabe’s constitutional remedy is Lycopodium. When Dr. Jill was talking about Lycopodium and the picture she created of a Lycopodium animal fit Gabriel perfectly. Lycopodium has helped Gabe with urinary problems, fear issues, bone and ligament concerns (a conformation instructor said that Gabe should never be shown in the breed ring as he doesn’t move correctly – since this comment was made, Gabe was treated with lycopodium and has since taken Reserve Winners Dog repeatedly. Thank you again for another wonderful show; it is one I will keep for my files! ~Keryl Asbach and the gang at Balsam Path

Hi Dr. Kim, …I was very happy with the interview, you guys were wonderful! ~ Stormy May, The Path of the Horse

And a comment from a listener on the show The Path of the Horse:
1/7/2009 – 4:36 PM

Thank you for hosting such an inspirational show. Some people say that there is no such thing in life as mere coincidences…. Yesterday I was watching a lovely video clip with Stormy May over on You Tube and was wondering why this phenomenal lady is still relatively unheard of over here in the UK. Then last night, I remembered to update my new email address on BTR and came across this show. Even though there is a time difference, I was able to enjoy listening to it on podcast. ~

In reference to our Christmas show, we received the following comments from participants)

Hello Jeannie and Kim, A wonderful program with inspiring Christ centered messages from all your guests! (Jeannie, your “Fear Not” command intro was awesome and set the tone of the program so nicely). I hope the charities do well and look forward to hearing about the outcome. Thank you both for letting me be a part of this worthwhile effort in sharing the true meaning of Christmas. I pray that it will especially reach listeners who do not yet believe in the real reason for the season—a Savior is born! ~Jean Wenzel, Canine Carnivore

Kim, Absolutely fantastic. This was better then any sermon I have ever heard. To think that all were praising God knowing the true love He has for both the animals and us and giving Him the glory. I pray you and Jeannie start seeing miracles abound for all your work, your prayers, and your understanding of the hearts of all of the guests you invited to be on the show… I loved Jean Marie’s songs…Most of all however I want to applaud Kim Meeder…By the way your singing was really quite good (*note from Kim: I think Mary was joking! 🙂 )…God bless you. ~ Mary Buddemeyer-Porter, Animals in Paradise

Thank you again for inviting me to be a part of this! Love and prayers, Irena

Dr. Kim and Dr. Jeannie, I am SO SO grateful to have been on your show today. I could feel the support and caring you have for animals, for me and for Frankie – it was an absolute honor to share my message via your show. I can’t thank you enough. Thank you for what you do to bring a positive message about animals and all that they teach us about life. I believe without a doubt if we take heed to what our animals are teaching us, our world will eventually become a more peaceful place. I just believe that with all my heart. Thanks again so much!! I could have talked to you both ALL DAY! Also a woman from CA who has been following me via my newsletter sent me a lovely email after the show saying how much she enjoyed it. And she ordered Frankie™s book! Being on your show and hearing our story finally convinced her she needed Frankie™s book. I love how positively sharing your truth and your beliefs can go out into the world and make a positive impact. Keep on doing what you are doing too!! It is WONDERFUL!! From a regular listener:
Hi Dr. Kim, I listened to your program with Dr. Blake regarding being pest free and I had to laugh. Over the past few months I have learned so much just watching our dogs and cats. We are not using heartworm medication or Frontline any longer and we have fewer ticks on our dogs. There are a few that have engorged themselves on Rosie and Cedar but Gabe has stayed pretty clean. It is all pretty amazing to me and I am SO thankful that we gave up that drug dependent life. I too have given up my drug dependent life and am using natural products to help my thyroid and that has helped with depression. It is so darn amazing to feel so good and not be taking medication!!! I am losing weight (something I haven’t been able to do in YEARS) and I have energy! It makes me wonder what is in those thyroid tablets that we probably get from China??? Today Gabe starts homeopathic treatment with Dr. Jeff (HomeVet). I have lots of positive thoughts going into this venture. Shalom, ~Keryl and the crew at BalsamPath

From one of our avid listeners:
Hey Kim – how are you doing? I’ve been listening to a bunch of your new shows. Good thing I listened to the one recently on hospice and the signs to look for when you’re animal is ready to pass on.

My oldest dog, Max, the one you and I have previously discussed his bouts with pancreatitis in the past and I’ve been supplementing a lot of probiotics, etc. as he passed away this past Friday morning. I thought he might be getting sick again late that night, but unfortunately it was more than being sick. At least I knew the signs and was able to be with him at home. I couldn’t have done anything being 45 minutes away from the nearest emergency vet and since he’d lost all control of his legs, etc., I couldn’t have gotten him in the car since he was a 72 pound dog. I just knew in my heart it was his time and a vet (if he had made it to the vet) would have just prolonged the whole ordeal and cost a fortune. Once I knew what was happening I got him comfortable on sheets, grabbed some green tea and a pillow for my fanny and sat with him for the next two hours and comforted him. I don’t think he was it a lot of pain, mostly scared I think. I haven’t been through this before except for a couple of my cats in the past, but I had to have them put to sleep so of course that happens in less than a minute.

I have to tell you, as much as it hurt to see him go through this and to let him go, I’ve had the feeling he wouldn’t make it through the year. He wasn’t recouping from having tumors removed again less than two months ago as fast as he had last year and was having more problems getting up from lying down. He’d look good one day and the next he would look haggard again and no matter what or how much I fed him he always acted like he was starving. Earlier that day he was acting fine so I was not expecting it that day that’s for sure.

My gut feeling is he did have cancer or something like that going on internally. I did not have the tumors biopsied this time (last year they were malignant) as I had already made the decision not to do chemo, radiation or anything like that. Hate to say it but with six dogs I could not have afforded it and I didn’t feel it would be fair to put him through all that since he has had so many health issues in the past five years.

I’m not telling you this to make you feel bad, Kim, just wanted to let you know that if I hadn’t been listening to your shows I may not have been able to handle this situation as well and probably had gone into panic mode off to the vet. I’m a practical person but love my dogs passionately, but also don’t believe in putting them through so much pain and treatments that would have probably not afforded him much of a quality of life just for me to selfishly keep him with me. I just wanted you to know that even on the hard subjects like this, your show has been a blessing to me.

Hope all is well with you and your loved ones. I heard on one of your shows you are house shopping. Hope you find what you’re looking for soon. Bandit, Bug and all the rest are doing fine and send their love. ~Teresa Morrow

I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to speak on your show. I must say that of all the tv shows, radio shows, and magazines we’ve been written up in, your show focused more on the meat of the subject instead of just the frills than all the other shows put together. Thank you for such a wonderful show!!! I wish that all the other media that we have been exposed to could have at least covered even 10% of what your show did!!! You two are wonderful!

I’m a new listener to your show and have recently become an advocate of the raw meaty bone diet for dogs. I look forward to raising our dogs naturally and with healthy, canine-appropriate diets! I also recently picked up a Boxer magazine and came across the attached article. I scanned it just for you. There is a lot of so-called information about dog food and what is considered a ‘healthy’ diet for dogs. I’m sure you’ll grimace just as much as I did when you come across the statement that dogs are omnivores, not carnivores. What?? Keep up the great work with your show! Best wishes, JK

I love your podcast. I’ve learned so much from you and Dogtor J. You guys are the reason I switched to raw! I LOVE Dogtor J. He has really made me think. In fact, I’ve change MY diet after listening to his comments. He is so enthusiastic and it’s contagious. Thanks again for all you do for us and our pets. It’s obvious that you love animals and that you have a passion to see them live better quality lives. I applaud you. Count me as a loyal listener. Thanks! Karen and TopoGiGio (my little hairless Chinese crested dog)

You are both real class acts, and it’s a delight meeting you. I’m going to enjoy listening to your show regularly and letting my friends all know about it! We both had a great time doing the show. Thanks guys for what you do and who you are.. The talk is easy the walk more challenging and who you are not what you say. Dr. Stephen Blake, aka The Pet Whisperer

Yes, you have my permission to use my comment. I love your podcasts!
I can’t believe 6 pets lives were lost ‘in the studies conducted by Menu Foods themselves to confirm that the food was the culprit’. I myself found that the processed food is bad for our animals through personal experience. I figured there had to be a main source of my dogs chronic ear infections, scratching and ravenous appetite. So, after much reading of textbooks and listening to many, many ATN podcasts, and contacting Jeannie, I slowly put her on a raw food diet in November! My what a difference. Not one ear infection, scratching is WAY down and no more bare spots. Not to mention how clear her eyes have gotten, her demeanor, although always pleasant, is much more fun loving. Probably because she feels better. Thankful she was never in a life threatening situation. And thankfully I was already down the holistic health avenue for myself, so to see this as a good method was easy. All I can say, is, it’s more work to prepare foods for the dogs, yes my second dog has benefited as well from raw feeding. But it is so worth it to see how many and fun their personalities have gotten. Mary Broedell, Phoenix Moon

I love you guys! I’ve been feeding raw for 6 years and I’m on the board for the 501C3 that is in works with Tom Lonsdale. I appreciate all you guys do and love that you incorporate God into your podcast. Keep up the good work!! I prefer to listen and participate live! I really enjoyed that first show I heard. I started transitioning my dog to a raw, natural diet thanks to you! There is already a noticable change in his appearance! I really do love the show, its so very interesting and you talk about USEFUL subjects. Not the latest collar fashion or pet carriers style! But like real helpful information that applies to real, everyday people. And I love it. There has not been one single show that I’d listened to where I said I’d better turn it off because I’d never use this! That has never happened. And I’ve listened to a lot of them! They ALL have something that people can take away with them and use in their everyday lives. And there is the added bonus that you have the option of listening in LIVE and asking your own questions! Where else can you do that?! You have the greatest pet talk show on the air right now, Kim. I will be here listening forever! Emily Northrup, DDB ~ MN

Shadrach is a very handsome dog, by the way! I wish you much success. Best Regards, Debbie Barth
